Our 2020 Review!

Ho ho holy shit, what a year, indeed!

As it’s been a year, and we’ve not shared that much on social media, we (Chelsea, let’s be honest) decided to write a post to let you know how we spent this crazy year.

[also there are a lot of photos on this page, so it may load super slowly, sorry!]

2020 got off to a ROARING start with a 1920’s style prohibition New Year’s Eve Party.

We had such high hopes…

January

In January I went down to Florida to help host a baby shower for my sweet friend Nicole who welcomed a beautiful baby boy, Owen, in March.

FEBRUARY

For Valentine’s day weekend, we drove a few hours west up into the mountains for a “Ski” weekend and stayed in an AirBnB cabin with some friends!

On the 23rd of February we celebrated our first wedding anniversary with a dinner date in Georgetown and enjoyed the top layer of our wedding cake!

The next week, we got in our only wedding of 2020 , heading to Atlanta for the Benzion wedding. I’ve known TJ since high school and we were sorority sisters in college! it was a beautiful wedding and a wonderful opportunity to re-connect with old friends!

COVID TIMES

In March, the world turned upside down when COVID hit the US. Mike started working from home and will be until at least September 2021!

We spent a lot of time at home!

We cancelled our trip to England at the end of March to celebrate my Nana’s 90th birthday. It was sad to miss out on seeing her and the rest of the family, but on the bright side, we have a fabulous itinerary planned for a future trip!

We took shit seriously as we learned what was safe and what wasn’t. We stayed home, stayed out of large crowds, wore masks out in public and we will be first in line to take the vaccine when we can!

covid cooking

I was one of those people and for a period of time, I took photos of everything I made. Definitely feel free to skip this [or any] section…

Fur Babies

Kite and Dover have had a blast with us both home all the time, here are some of their cutest moments!

June

After the first few months of covid isolation (which seemed like an eternity!) we took a trip for Mike’s 30th birthday in June to Luray, VA. We stayed in an Air BnB in the mountains which was a perfect little getaway! Scotch and campfires and hot tubs under the stars.

DC LIFE

Living so close to DC, and being politically inclined, we got involved. While our opinions vary slightly, Mike and I are both fans of trusting science, calling out racism as small dick energy, and giving a shit about other people. Mike is also a staunch believer in Facebook trolling, so if you see him post something that seems conservative, it’s probably sarcastic.

Also if you have different political values, that’s fine… these are ours!

Speaking of DC, we took advantage of how close we live by taking all of the monument and neighborhood walks.

In the summer, the White House and the few blocks north of it became the center of the movement for racial justice and equality. We visited and showed our support.

Wow, election season was anxiety inducing, am I right?! When it was finally called for Biden, we had a sweet high five and then immediately went to open the champagne! That evening, we headed out to DC to BLM Plaza by the White House where there was such an exciting energy of hope and excitement for the future. But honestly, for a lot of people, it was just intense relief.

Summer

Fall

In October, my Dad and Step Mom, Sonia came to visit for the weekend, it was great to see them! My dad had never been to DC, and needed a bit of guidance on which building which government thing was supposed to be but isn’t currently happening in.

Mike took a guys trip to Denver with his friend Jake and they went on some hikes and played lots of golf!

Mike also played a lot of golf this year! He got a travel case and has played in 5 states so far this year. He swears he still loves me.

SEPTEMBER

We hosted the first Gator Game “tailgate” of the season and hosted some friends from college who all live in the DC area! I put on a way too over the top spread because I was dying to host something after so long without seeing anyone! We had such high hopes…

Halloween

At the end of October we took a trip down to Florida to surprise my friend Cass for her Birthday! My friend Heather and I worked with Cass’ wife Taylor to help plan decorations for their Halloween Party. We made a special “day of the birth” birthday section for Cass! Mike and I dressed as Macho Man (RIP) and Hulk Hogan!

Thanksgiving

We had a few friends over for Thanksgiving and ate leftovers for days!

I made a charcuterie board to start, with truffle cheddar, stilton and brie cheeses, mike’s hot honey, mango puree, pomegranate, dried apricots, apple and fresh berries. For meats we had, prosciutto, sopressata and salami, crackers pistachios and finished with fresh rosemary.

For the main event, I made an herb roasted (21lb!!) turkey, the most delicious apple sausage stuffing, mashed potatoes, and carrots, brussels sprouts and cabbage for veggies! Our friends Stuart and Crystal brought a yummy Mac’n cheese and banana bread and mini cheesecakes for dessert. I also made an apple pie!

CHRISTMAS!!!

If you’re here, you probably already know that I have no chill when it comes to Christmas and decorating! This year I finally started selling some ornaments through social media and am working on launching an etsy shop/online store here in the near future! So watch this space!

If you got all the way through this, YGG! Hope you enjoyed reading about our year!

We hope everyone has a wonderful and safe holiday season and a very happy and much needed NEW year!

xoxo
